Rogue couldn't look away from those strange, beautiful eyes, the moments becoming even more intimate and personal because of that connection between them. She felt emotionally closer to him and it only heightened the pleasure he was giving her.

He didn't have to wait long. In the seconds before, her hands moved to cling to his wrists, clutching at him as the climax hit and she gave a strangled shout. Her body shook as she fell apart, her muscles clenching around him, her head thrown back with eyes shut as she lost control of everything. Everything but her powers - he was still safe, and she had just enough presence of mind to be grateful for that.

In the back of his mind, Todd might have feared that. Perhaps their intimacy would be too great for her to keep that switch off. He underestimated her, and he was grateful too that he had. Even so, he wouldn't stopped. Couldn't have.

Almost as soon as she cried out and her walls began fluttering around him, he too came undone, plunging to hilt inside her and going still as he hit his climax, shuddering deeply at the powerful feeling.

When the initial waves receded, he slowly lowered himself down upon her, purring very audible now as he buried his face in her neck. His warm breath ghosting over her skin, heart pounding strong enough to be felt against her own chest.

She had never felt so complete and at peace as she did in those moments when he came apart with her. This was something she had waited for, for so very long, and it felt incredibly right to be experiencing it with Todd, who she cared for in ways that she couldn't begin to describe.

When he lowered himself to her, she wrapped her arms around him, holding on as she struggled to catch her breath, her own heart pounding in time with his. Her fingers laced through his hair and she couldn't stop herself from turning to clumsily kiss the side of his head, pressing her lips to white strands that suddenly seemed softer than she remembered.

Still trembling slightly, she told him in a voice that was more breath than sound, "That was perfect. You were perfect."

He lifted his head to look her in the eye, and was pleased by her praise. He smiled and leaned in again to rest his forehead against her own, closing his eyes, as content with her as she was him.

Todd pulled out of Rogue and sat up against the headboard beside her. "Forgot how it felt to truly let go in the heat of it all." he chuffed, letting her settle against him as she liked. "Quite wonderful. I believe making a habit of this would be fun" he grinned

She adjusted her own positioning so she could lean against him, resting her head on his shoulder and looping an arm through his, holding onto his wrist as her free hand traced lazy designs along that arm she held. Her fingertips danced across his skin with no clear pattern - she just wanted to continue enjoying touching him.

Laughing quietly, she smiled and pressed a kiss to his shoulder before settling in again. "I think that's a fantastic idea," she told him, closing her eyes and rubbing her cheek against him, like a cat scenting its person.

As she held his arm and caressed along the smooth skin and powerful muscle beneath, he relaxed his hand, the feeding slit closed now that their passion had died down.

He looked down at her as she rubbed her cheek against his shoulder before smiling and resting his head back, ready for a little nap before they had to get ready for dinner.

He thought about waking up to her every morning, like before they arrived in Atlantis, only this time, instead of curled up in the chair-him or her-he'd wake with her beside him, warm, soft, content. It would be a nice change.

If this was going to be her life in Pegasus from now on, she certainly wouldn't have any complaints. A place to call home and someone to spend her days and nights with - she couldn't ask for much more than that.

The quiet of the ship and the steady rhythm of his breathing lulled her into sleep, a feeling of contentment settling over her as they dozed together. It was the perfect way to end their wonderful afternoon of exploring each other, and she looked forward to many repeat performances in the future.

It was too much to hope that her nightmares would stay dormant forever now that she could touch Todd and sleep beside him. The safety he provided could only go so far to soothe the dark memories in her mind though, it seemed, because after a short while she was shifting in her sleep against him, frowning and whimpering quietly.

Despite their...exertions, he'd not fallen into too deep a sleep as they'd have to get up before long and head down for dinner. And good thing he had not drifted off entirely for he woke to Rogue shifting around beside him.

A shame she couldn't switch off her nightmares too.

She was still holding his arm, quite tightly now as she fought whatever monsters that lurked in her head. If her ability kicked in, it would be dreadfully painful for him and he'd be aching for the rest of the day and night...and not in the good way as he had a little while ago.

"Rogue." he grunted, shaking her shoulder with his free hand. "Wake up." he said firmly

She woke with a gasp, instinctively jerking away from Todd as her power came to life. There was barely half a second of contact between them as she scrambled backward and away from him - just enough for him to feel the initial sting, but nothing more. The terror that gripped her was so strong that she didn't notice as she reached the edge of the bed and slipped off the edge. Her shoulder hit the floor at an odd angle and she cried out in pain, curling in on herself.

"I'm sorry," she gasped, clenching her eyes shut as she struggled to catch her breath and calm down. She had to turn off her power so it would be safe for him again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

Todd felt the slight sting but was far more surprised when she all but flew off the bed to get away from him, pulling blankets, pillows, and animal pelts with her in her flight.

He crawled over and looked down at Rogue over the side with a sigh, "I know you didn't attack me on purpose. You're the one who should know that by now." he grunted. He swung his legs off the bed then noticed she was clutching her shoulder. "Land badly?" he guessed.

She nodded and sat up slowly among the mess she'd created, grimacing as she moved that shoulder. Her arm was tingling with numbness from the impact, and it hurt to even lift it a few inches. It wasn't the first time she'd done this sort of thing though, so she didn't pay much mind to it, instead looking up at Todd.

"Are you alright?" she asked him in concern, worried that she'd miscalculated and she might have done him some damage. Hurting him was the very last thing she wanted to do.

"Fine, barely felt it" he said honestly, the ache returning in his arm but his healing abilities already making that fade too. However, he definitely noticed Rogue favoring that arm. She was tough, some slight bruising probably. She'd be fine herself, she put up with cracked ribs for weeks after all.

"We'd best wash up and head down to the kitchen anyway" he said, getting up and going to the bathroom to wash up with a damp cloth, and then begin the process of finding his clothes.

Rogue followed after a few failed attempts at shutting off her power - her adrenaline was still too high, so she'd have to deal with it like usual for now. She cleaned up in the bathroom and found her jeans, shirt, and underwear easily enough. The bra was a bit more difficult; she regretted throwing it the way she had, just as she knew she would. It finally turned up in the chair behind the desk.

Dressing with her sore arm took some real effort, and there were other parts of her that were a bit sore as well, though for much more enjoyable reasons. Still, she groaned as she was finally able to ease the shirt over her head. Afterward, her injured arm remained tucked at her side, elbow bent. She'd be fine in a few hours aside from a bit of bruising, but in the meantime she had every intention of letting that evening's cooking shift do most of the heavy work.

Todd said nothing of his observation of her arm. If she was in serious pain, like a broken bone or the like, he trusted she'd not hide it.

After some self-care, and dressing, he paused halfway to the door and looked to her.

"You've forgotten something." he stated, though it wasn't accusatory. He smiled and lifted a hand to give a lock of his hair a tug to indicate what it was. They were new mates now, she had yet to mark him as such.

Rogue gave him a confused look until he indicated his hair, then she grinned. She had forgotten, even after so looking forward to it, and she felt almost a little silly for it. She pulled her gloves from her pants pockets and tugged them on before stepping close to him.

"Is it weird to admit that I'm actually really excited for this part?" she asked, reaching up with her good arm to comb her fingers through a few strands of hair. "I find it kind of thrilling that everyone will know that I chose you." Because from what he'd told her, that's the way it would be perceived.

"They will indeed." he chuffed, moving to sit down in the armchair so she could do it properly, and without reaching. When she kept her gloves on he grunted, "Take these off." Todd tapped the back of her hand with a finger "You should get used to being without them, especially after an episode."

He didn't live in fear of her ability attacking him, no reason she should.

Rogue looked at her hands for a long moment before taking a deep breath and doing as he said, tugging them off and returning them to her pocket. Whether he liked it or not, some part of her would probably always be afraid of hurting him with her powers.

"Is there anything I should know?" she asked him, rubbing one of the braids he currently wore between her thumb and forefinger. "Any significance to the different types beyond just variety of decoration?" She wanted to make sure she did this right and didn't make any sort of cultural blunder.

He suspected as much, but he'd do all he could to try and change that mindset. Glad that she'd done as he asked, he relaxed, letting her undo the work of his previous mate in preparation for putting her own in.

"No, entirely up to you" he confirmed "A braid halfway down the length of hair, a couple decorative knots, several thin braids, whatever you pick my crew will know it came from you"

Rogue nodded but didn't say anything further, already deciding on her design as she carefully undid the old braids and knots that he'd worn for years. She combed through his hair with her fingertips after that, careful not to brush his scalp with her skin but enjoying the feeling nonetheless.

It was slow going with her sore arm, but things were made quite a bit easier with him sitting in the chair. She worked in several thin braids through his hair, and a knot here and there as she went, and finally one slightly thicker braid toward the front of his right side, to signify that he had been her first. Her first true lover, her first wraith, her first meeting in Pegasus. She'd likely never tell him any of that, but it would mean something to her at least. When she was finished, she stepped back to admire her work with a small, satisfied smile. "All done," she announced quietly. It wasn't anything garish or overdone, but the changes were noticeable - she hoped he liked it.

Todd closed his eyes and enjoyed the quiet as she marked him thus, opening them only when she said she was finished. Lifting his hands, he ran them through his hair, finding the new braids and knots. Satisfied none were too over-the-top, he dropped his hands and nodded. "Good work" he smiled, getting to his feet.

Queens changed their hair as they pleased, as everyone knew her commander was her mate so there was no need to advertise it, though she might change it up a bit should a new commander take the current's place. Worshipers and pets didn't change their hair with a new mate either, but Todd decided to offer the option to Rogue as she was neither queen nor worshiper.

"Would you like me to return the gesture?"

It was a relief that he'd deemed her choices acceptable. She would have changed the decorations without hesitation if he'd found something not to his liking, of course, but it was nice to know she'd done well.

He surprised her with his question, as it was something she hadn't even known was an option. Perhaps it wasn't normally, and he was making the offer just for her - their arrangement certainly didn't seem to be the norm for wraith and humans, so why should this be any different? She tilted her head slightly to the side, a hand lifting to touch the tips of her hair as she considered the offer.

After a few long moments, she nodded and gave Todd a small smile. "I would. Thank you."

The commander returned the nod, let her sit down and stroked her hair, calming her to try and help her switch her ability off and make it safe for him to work.

When she seemed relaxed, he moved her hair to work on a braid that curled down behind her ear, about a quarter of an inch thick. It was loose enough to allow her to pull it back into a pony tail with the rest of her hair, but not so that it would come undone. Easy to show or hide, it was the only decor he put into her hair.

Rogue had always loved having her hair played with - brushed, braided, anything at all really. It was comforting, and after her mutation something only Remy had ever dared to do. Todd's plan worked in that she relaxed enough to finally be able to focus enough to shut off her power, which only helped her relax even further. By the time he was finished, she felt like a completely different person, a far cry from the nervous creature she'd been just minutes before.

She ran her fingers over that single braid, noticing its placement and construction, how easy it would be for her to replicate it and pull it back when they sparred. "I love it," she announced with a bright smile, reaching out to catch Todd's hand and give it a gentle squeeze - a way to show her gratitude and let him know that she had switched off her ability.

A chuff in reply and a return of the hand squeeze before they finally left to start dinner.

Despite the hold-ups, they were the first to arrive, though as they started pulling out ingredients, the group of crew who would be cooking tonight soon turned up too.

Most expressed interest in their commander's new hair-do, but overall, even after seeing Rogue's as well, the excitement was minimal.

Rogue stuck to her plan of giving the wraith most of the tasks that required a good deal of effort, from chopping to mixing, and just lifting the pans. Her arm had lost all numbness by the end of the meal and it was much easier to move her shoulder, but she could still feel the bruise forming from where she'd hit the floor. It was nothing compared to cracked ribs, at least.

It was almost disappointing that the reaction to their new status was so minimal, but she supposed that was the wraith way. She was grateful that it also seemed to be the wraith way to not be disgusted by a human and wraith being intimate, as she was sure that would have been the case with the Atlantis bunch, let alone other humans in Pegasus.

When the cleanup was over and things had been returned to their proper places, the crew leaving to wherever they went each night, she turned to Todd and asked, "Would you mind helping me a little longer? I'd like to do pies tomorrow, but it's best if the dough sits overnight."
