The Sweet Gestures Meme

the sweet gestures meme
Everyone loves sweet gestures—little things that remind someone that you love them, that you think of them, that you care for their general, and other things. A gesture could be made towards a friend, a family member, or some other loved one. Maybe towards a total stranger you think deserves something to make them smile.
prompts
1. LOVE NOTES ❤ Everyone loves love notes, and they don’t even have to be romantic. It could be simple as ‘have a good day at work’ or even something funny to brighten someone’s day.
2. BREAKFAST IN BED ❤ Especially on a Sunday morning or after a long, late shift at work, breakfast in bed with their favorite foods is surely the way to start the day off right.
3. PHONE CALL ❤ Who doesn’t like a phone call from someone they love, for no reason? A nice conversation can be all someone needs to have a better day or make a good day be a great one.
4. SWEET TREAT ❤ Late at night when you’re both tired from work or just general day-to-day things, something sweet from the local bakery can be just the thing you need.
5. MASSAGE ❤ While a wonderful idea, swapping massages can be a good idea too, or doing it after a nice bubble bath you made for them, or just randomly.
6. RANDOM HUG ❤ Even if they are not having a bad day, how could a hug not bring a smile to someone’s face?
7. SMALL GIFT ❤ It could be a piece of jewelry that caught your eye and reminded you of them, a stuffed animal you won at the carnival… just something small and sweet that you are sure they are going to love no matter how cheap or expensive it is.
8. FLOWERS ❤ From a florist or from a random patch of green, the surprise of flowers for someone you know and/or love is always welcomed! Look into their meanings to make the bouquet, big or small, become extra special.
9. RENT A MOVIE ❤ Sure, you might not like the genre of the movie, but if the other person does, then that is all that matters.
10. SLOW DANCE ❤ Middle of the living room, randomly while on a date, or maybe that is the whole purpose of the date. Slow dances are so underrated.
11. SURPRISE GETAWAY ❤ Yes, that is just what you guys need: a vacation from things, even if it’s just for a day or two and is not half way across the world. From a family vacation to a romantic spur of the moment, everyone loves going to a new place.
12. SURPRISE KISS ❤ Who doesn’t like a surprise kiss? A soft one on the cheek, a kiss being the thing to wake you up in the morning, or a big one right when you walk through the door.
13. HOLD HANDS ❤ There is nothing like holding hands. It’s a simple and intimate gesture, and if you do it the right way, it could have a whole different meaning.
14. COOK DINNER ❤ Come on, give it a go. Who cares if you’re not the best cook in the world or possibly the worst? It’s the thought that counts.
15. WILD CARD ❤ Was there something missed? Did you have another scene in mind? Want to roll again?

She couldn't tell whether he was grinning at the content or the structure of what she'd said (sometimes those southernisms just slipped out, especially when good manners were involved), but she loved seeing him that happy. Her arms wrapped around his neck as he carried her, and she cringed comically as he fixed her shorts. Even when he sat and gave her that grin though, she couldn't get rid of her own smile.
"You look like you just ate a canary," she informed him almost accusingly, and she tried really hard to keep the laughter out of her voice, she really did. She failed, of course, but at least she tried.

At her teasing accusation, he tried, mostly successfully, to school his face into a look of innocence. Most of the effect was lost because he made it so obvious, but that was the point. Picking up his sandwich, he casually said, "Well, I haven't yet. Planning on it, though," giving her a look that clearly conveyed he was not talking about his food, before taking a bite.
It was something, like all sexual encounters, that he'd heard about back in his day, but had never had the chance to do. Going down south had been something he'd been interested in learning about, because back then, with his weak heart and low blood pressure, he hadn't been sure he'd be able to perform even when he really wanted to. But using his mouth to give a woman pleasure - that was something he could do at any time.

When he said what he did, Rogue just stared at him for a long moment, trying to piece together what he meant, because surely... But that look said it all. She knew exactly what he'd meant and it sent a thrill through her at the very idea of it. For so many years, she'd had fantasies of experiencing that particular act of intimacy, but there was never any way for it to be safe for her partner. So now, with Steve almost outright promising it to her, she couldn't hide the surprised and incredibly pleased look that crossed her face, even as she ducked her head a little in something akin to embarrassment.

"I'm gonna get changed and go for a run after I finish eating," he said, acting as if he hadn't just promised her sexual favor 10 seconds ago. Nope, nothing to see here, folks. Just two people, discussing their ordinary plans for the day. "Wanna split a cupcake with me before I go?" Because he could always eat more. And he enjoyed sharing the cupcakes with Rogue; even if she'd made them, he thought they were all delicious, so far, and felt they should be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
no subject
"I'd love to," she told him with her own smile. It didn't matter that she'd tasted them all, that she wasn't hungry in the slightest. Sharing a cupcake with Steve sounded like the most amazing thing in the world in that moment.

Finishing the last slice of watermelon, the last thing left on his plate, Steve washed the taste down with a gulp of water, before holding up a finger. "Hold that thought, please," he teased, getting up and grabbing the box with the last several cupcakes and sitting back down.
Opening the lid, he considered them with a serious expression, hamming it up a little for Rogue's benefit. He loved watching her smile, hearing her laugh, and it was even better when he was the direct cause. Finally, he glanced at Rogue. "Any suggestions which one I should try next? They all look amazing."
no subject
Steve got his wish to see Rogue smile and laugh - she couldn't do anything but when she saw the way he studied the cupcakes with such intent. She felt so happy in that moment, and it was all because of him.
"How about the mocha?" she suggested with her own smile firmly in place, reaching into the box to lift out one of the dark cakes with a deep brown frosting and flakes of chocolate along the top. "It's chocolate with a bit of coffee in it." Her two favorite things, as he'd heard.
no subject
Delicately taking the cupcake from Rogue's fingers, Steve could smell the chocolate, and just a hint of the bitterness of the coffee. He carefully peeled the wrapper off, and took a not-insubstantial bite, trying to get an equal amount of cake and frosting, for maximum effect.
The coffee flavor hit his tongue first, a sharp bitterness that was balanced out by the sweetness of the chocolate, and it was amazing. "Incredible," he murmured, holding it out for Rogue to have a bite. "My compliments to the chef," he teased.
no subject
Grinning at his reaction, she leaned in to take a bite of the cupcake, reaching up to wrap a hand around Steve's both for balance and to keep the cake steady. She managed not to get icing all over herself this time, at least, but mostly because she kept her bite on the smaller side. Her eyes closed as she savored the sweet taste of chocolate with the hint of coffee running through, and it almost made her want to cry because of how much she'd missed such simple things.
no subject
He'd have to make sure to compliment all of her food (which wouldn't be difficult, as everything she'd made for the picnic had been delicious), and offer to share it with her every time he had some.
no subject
She took the last piece from him, certain they'd end up dropping it and making a mess before she got it to her mouth otherwise, and she finished it slowly and carefully in a few bites. The flavor was still completely delicious, but each second that passed made it more difficult to chew and swallow. It was the physical act of eating that she found difficult, which was at odds with her love of complex flavors.
The side of her thumb had a streak of frosting across it, but she didn't move to wipe it away yet, instead choosing to ask, "How long do you think you'll be out running?"
no subject
"Probably a couple hours," he finally said, rubbing the back of his neck in vague embarrassment. "I'll probably run down to the bridge, maybe loop through the park a couple times." If Rogue didn't know the area well, that might not seem too unusual - but it was easily a two hour-or-longer run, just one way. It felt kind of ridiculous to say he'd do all that, and still be back in about two hours.
no subject
She nodded at his answer, finally getting up from her chair and going over to the sink to wash her hands. She straightened her borrowed clothes a bit more as she went, as her movements were slow and a little stiff, and she spoke over her shoulder while she cleaned off the chocolate that had been left behind. "I may have a nap while you're gone, or read a little, I saw a few books on your shelf that look interesting. So take your time, sugar, I'll still be here when you get back."
no subject
Steve glanced at the bookshelf, wondering what might have caught her interest. A book on art, or one of the fiction books he'd found at a flea market. Maybe a biography, he had a few of those. He was immensely pleased to hear that she'd still be there when he got back, too.
Getting up and taking his dish to the sink, Steve leaned over and pressed an affectionate kiss to Rogue's cheek. "Thank you. I'm gonna go get changed, and head out. I'll have my phone on me, if you need anything." It felt strange to say that; both because he could be in contact with her wherever he was, which was novel but nice, but also because it was such a domestic thing to say. They were slowly settling, and Steve treasured that feeling, as much as he did the excitement of a new relationship and new love.
no subject
She planned to stay for as long as she could, and as long as he would let her. The only thing she had waiting for her at her apartment were the beautiful flowers he'd brought, whereas here she could see that gorgeous smile and be wrapped up in his arms. There really was no contest.
It was a very domestic thing to say, and it sent such a thrill through Rogue that she nearly jumped him right then and there. Domestic was what she wanted, desperately, to be settled and confident in a relationship, to have the strength of her partner and the depth of their feelings for each other.
She nodded and gave him an incredibly pleased smile. "Okay. Be careful out there, sugar."
no subject
Steve would never be able to resist that smile. He placed a gentle hand at the small of her back, and leaned forward to kiss her lips this time. "I promise."
Going to his bedroom, Steve quickly changed into a t-shirt and running shorts, before grabbing his phone and turning it on. He'd already stuck it in his pocket and was exiting the bedroom when it started to buzz with a message. Pulling it out, he frowned in puzzlement at the text Natasha had sent him, earlier that morning, it looked like.
Enjoy the fireworks last night? Stark is totally jealous. ;)
Steve stood, in the middle of the living area, tapping out his reply with his thumbs, still frowning slightly at the screen.
Didn't get a chance to see any actually. Why is he jealous
He couldn't find the question mark button, so he just hit send, before putting the phone back in his pocket.
no subject
While Steve changed, Rogue washed up the few dirty things in the sink, like the plate he'd just used, and dried them with a towel before putting them back in their places. She was sure that if she asked for, he'd insist she needn't do it, so she just didn't bother to ask.
no subject
He kissed her, one more time, because he just couldn't stop himself, and he really didn't want to. "Okay," he murmured, "I really am going now."
no subject
"Okay," she echoed, before grabbing a handful of his shirt and pulling him down for another kiss. If he was going to take his sweet time about it, she wasn't going to make it any easier for him to make it out that door.
no subject
He'd made it all the way to the door, and had it open, before glancing back at her. "I love you."
no subject
"I love you too," she told him with a happy grin, the words coming as easy as breathing.

He kept the pace to a (fast) jog, putting on short bursts of speed when he didn't think anyone would notice, and once he made it to the bridge, he looped around and headed through several parks, racing through the trees when he was unlikely to be seen, or at least noticed for how fast he was running. He always enjoyed running through wilderness best, even if it was carefully cultivated wilderness; it reminded him of missions in Europe, but oddly, it brought him comfort. It was something he was familiar with. It was how he'd first learned just how fast he could run, and what his body was truly capable of, and despite everything else that had been happening at the time, it was a good memory.
Heading back toward his apartment, Steve checked his watch. An hour and a half. He'd settle into a jog the rest of the way as a nice cool-down, then walk the last couple of blocks. He was just starting to pant a little, but wasn't overexerted in the slightest.
no subject
Glancing around the kitchen, she realized again just how little he had in the way of, well, everything. She took a peek in the fridge and came to the conclusion that if she wanted to cook them anything later, she would need to go to the store, and she couldn't really do that in her present state.
Right then.
It felt completely natural to search around a bit to find where he kept his towels, and to take a quick shower to clean up after all the activities of the past twelve hours. She pulled her hair up so it didn't get wet, and used his soaps; she wondered vaguely if he would notice that she smelled like him when he came home. The towel was hung up to dry when she was finished, and she pulled on her dress again because it was all she had that was decent enough to go out in. It was a struggle to get the zipper up, but she managed well enough.
With the wonders of the internet, she was able to find a market not too far from his apartment, an easy short walking distance in the cool morning air. She filled her basket with the essentials she'd need to make a few meals, not entirely sure how long she'd be at his apartment, and added in a little treat courtesy of the small shelf of movies available for sale.
She was back at his apartment in half an hour, and between carrying the two very full bags of groceries and her sore, stiff muscles, she felt the distinct need for a nap. With the groceries put away, Rogue curled up on Steve's bed and was fast asleep within seconds, feeling completely safe and at peace. Even the sound of Steve coming home wasn't enough to wake her.
no subject
He was halfway into the living area before he realized he couldn't hear Rogue at all. His hearing was acute enough, if she were moving, he'd most likely hear it; he stopped in the center of the space and just listened, before moving quietly toward the hallway. The bathroom door was open, so he peeked into the bedroom--
His shoulders sagged in relief when he saw her. Not that he'd expected her to not be there when he got back - she'd said she would be, and he believed her - but just seeing her... helped him relax, in a way he couldn't really explain. He dismissed the idea of waking her to let her know he was back - that he was home - as soon as he thought it. He'd woken her too early this morning because of his nightmare, and he remembered yesterday - well, Tuesday, two days ago now - she'd been tired from a hectic night due to an emergency with some of her students.
Quietly grabbing some clean clothes, he headed for the shower, deciding if she was still asleep when he finished, he might wake her up to eat something. If she didn't want anything, he'd let her go back to sleep if she chose (this time), but he'd grab a bite to eat. He felt a little weird, eating in front of her if she didn't feel like it herself.
no subject
She contemplated the idea of getting up and joining Steve in the shower, since she was fairly certain he wouldn't mind one bit, but ultimately she decided there would be other opportunities. The bed was just too comfortable for her to move at that particular moment, so she stayed where she was, listening to the quiet of the apartment and that subtle bit of noise that meant he was home.
