So in the end, it was a good thing that they knew the enzyme treatment could work. The timing could have been better, but eventually things would be in Todd's favor, which of course was how he liked it.

"Wait!" she exclaimed suddenly as he made to leave, leaning forward and almost reaching out to him. "Could you stay just a little longer? Not for training, but just... for company?"

She didn't really feel like she had the right to ask it of him, but she knew that he wouldn't stay if he didn't want to. Todd's presence was a comfort, though, and she could use a little more of it if he was willing to give it to her.
