She moved a little closer as he laid down, reaching out to smooth a hand over his cheek and through the strands of hair at his temple. He looked exhausted, as if he were fighting just to stay awake.

"We talked about a lot of things," she answered honestly, the words quiet. "Came to an understanding about my place here. She knows now that I don't want to cause trouble for her, and that I understand how things have changed now that she's here. I think that helped her a little, because after that we actually had a pretty good conversation."
