[ooc: It was heartbreaking news. He was such an incredible man.]

When the wraith had assumed Rogue was a pet, there was a brief moment in which she was incredibly afraid. Of this unknown wraith, of the knowledge that so many other wraith would see her in exactly that same light and would treat her no differently than every other human. She was like little more than an animal to them, a prize piece to be kept and used until the usefulness wore off. That realization had her pulse pounding so loudly in her ears that she almost didn't hear what Todd said afterward.

It would have been such a shame if she had missed it.

It was a masterfully crafted story, not entirely untrue but certainly not the way others were likely to tell it. And he had gone to the effort for her. Sure, it might be true that it was in his best interest to make sure nothing happened to her because Atlantis would react badly to such a thing, Colonel Sheppard in particular, but that wasn't all there was to it, not by a longshot. She had to put forth real effort to not smile at him, to save her reaction and gratitude for when they were in private. So instead she simply stayed close to Todd, trying to keep her head high to live up to the 'consultant' title.

She didn't get overly close to the pig pens though. Even she could see that this whole thing screamed of being a bad idea. All it would take was one wraith getting cocky and overconfident to get someone badly hurt or killed. But at the same time, the reasons for choosing these animals did have merit.
