She woke with a gasp, instinctively jerking away from Todd as her power came to life. There was barely half a second of contact between them as she scrambled backward and away from him - just enough for him to feel the initial sting, but nothing more. The terror that gripped her was so strong that she didn't notice as she reached the edge of the bed and slipped off the edge. Her shoulder hit the floor at an odd angle and she cried out in pain, curling in on herself.

"I'm sorry," she gasped, clenching her eyes shut as she struggled to catch her breath and calm down. She had to turn off her power so it would be safe for him again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."
