[ His first reply has her smiling, a quiet giggle emerging now that the stress and rush of adrenaline from earlier had faded. She'd done what she had to and she'd survived. Despite being just a human again, she'd managed to escape an angry vampire and she's actually a little proud of herself for it.

She's about to type a reply when she sees the notice that he's typing too. This one has her rolling her eyes, but still smiling like a love-struck idiot. Mother-in-law. The head table. Just having him talk about things like that has her feeling like her heart's about to burst out of her chest, even as she reminds herself that this is Damon. Damon who loves being a vampire and almost never thinks things through, who needed to think this through because there was no going back. She couldn't bear it if he ended up regretting the decision to spend a human life with her.

But she hopes. With all her heart, she hopes. ]


I hope you don't have [ But then he's typing again and she pauses, reading his message before erasing those five words and starting again. ]

I know you would, so I'm glad it didn't come to that. I don't want you to have to live with that kind of guilt.

[ Because she knew him. Despite that bravado that he liked to wear, he would always feel guilty if he killed his own mother, and it would haunt him for the rest of his life, however long that ended up being. ]
