Rogue had survived, and no matter what issues she still dealt with, she was far more put-together than anyone had any right to expect from her after her ordeals (and Steve wasn't even aware of all of them). If Steve knew nothing else about Rogue, it was that she had an indomitable spirit, and that was always something to be proud of. And he wouldn't hear a word otherwise, from her or anyone else.
Steve smiled in relief when she agreed to tell him, seeming genuine. "We do have some time before the fireworks," he responded, "and I believe we were gonna try to find some place with shade." Looking at her face, he couldn't tell if she was already starting to get a little pink, or if it was just an illusion caused by the sun on her red dress. "Now might be a good time to do that," he added, efficiently finishing folding the blanket.
